Why Zambia?
In 2015, my dad came home from work one day and showed a video that one of his business partners had shown him earlier that day. The video was of a mission trip his family had taken the previous year to Zambia and said it was life changing. As my dad started to play the video, tears rolled down my face as I watched these children smiling despite the everyday challenges they face. My dad showing me this video wasn't out of the ordinary because I have always had a heart for the less fortunate, needy, and the vulnerable. As the video came to an end, I began begging my dad to take me to Africa... As days turned into weeks, which turned into months of constantly asking, dad finally came home one day after praying and said "do you still want to go to zambia?" Well you can imagine my answer... So I ran upstairs and asked my younger brother John Wyatt if he would like to join and he gladly said YES! In June 2015, me, my dad, and my brother got on a plane and flew across the world to Zambia, Africa. Filled with lots of nerves, we were excited to see how God was going to use us that week in Zambia. Fast forward a week later, our lives were changed forever. 10 boys were put in our groups that week from a small compound here in Lusaka, called Ngombe compound. Those 10 boys would later in the coming years multiply and have now turned into over 30 boys that we call our sons, brothers, friends, and greatest gifts. So those boys are why in 2021 I got on a plane and moved here officially.
